In a fascinating insight into the mentality of those who espouse the mantra of catastrophic global warming, writer Elizabeth Moon has a short piece for the BBC in which she argues that everyone should be involuntarily implanted with a microchip at birth so that “anonymity would be impossible”.
Elizabeth Moon, who writes about global warming, wants everyone implanted with microchips for ease of identification and enforcement.
Moon, who has published essays warning of the dire effects of global warming and even made catastrophic global warming part of the background to her novels, made the stunning revelation in a BBC Radio programme on possible futures. Asked for her vision for the future of humanity, Moon stunned and “terrified” the other guests with this vision:
If I were empress of the Universe I would insist on every individual having a unique ID permanently attached – a barcode if you will; an implanted chip to provide an easy, fast inexpensive way to identify individuals.
It would be imprinted on everyone at birth. Point the scanner at someone and there it is.
Anonymity would be impossible as would mistaken identity making it easier to place responsibility accurately, not only in war but also in non-combat situations far from the war
Moon’s astonishing vision for the future reveals the warmist obsession with the supposed need for tracking and enforcement of personal behaviour. It reveals the fantasies of control and administration of everyday life that seem to motivate many of those whose professed concern is the future of the planet, but whose interests seem to actually lie in the ever-closer administration of individual’s daily lives. Only last year, the Infowars website detailed some of the proposals that were being floated for controlling people’s movements and activities, including carbon rationing and calorie cards whose avowed aim is the curtailment of people’s lives in the name of saving the environment.
Given the horrific history of totalitarian state’s attempts to dehumanise people by reducing them to mere ciphers, numbers in a database, you would think that an author such as Ms Moon who show a little cultural awareness and be wary of making proposals that apparently disregard the history of such attempts. But it seems that this is not the case. In revealing her fantasies of being “empress of the universe” and bar-coding humanity at birth, Ms Moon has done us all a service in giving us a glimpse into the future for us all which her and many others like her would like to see.

We used to tag the cattle on the farm that I grew up on – this is no different. We are just cattle to be tagged, herded, used, abused and done away with when no longer useful.
What shape would dissent have in such a world. Anyone dissenting would be easily identified and culled from the herd.
If this is her number one proposal – then power and control are her number one aims – and I never trust those people with a power and control fetish.
Elizabeth Moon displays an interesting inability to think through the consequences of this one (I’m being charitable and assuming that she’s not consciously relishing the prospect of governments tracking our every move, forever.) Surprising for a science fiction writer, as there’s no shortage of dystopian futures in SF, to draw lessons from, where this sort of thing is an actual scenario. It’s rather like a fantasy writer saying “Well, if I were king, I’d forge One Ring of Power, so that I could keep track of all my subjects – for their own good and for benign purposes only, naturally.” What could possibly go wrong?
Luckily, the other participants in the BBC’s mini debate display some degree of critical thought, although they are remarkably polite and restrained, given the sheer dangerous fatuity of this proposal.

Elizabeth Moon is a very dangerous person. Her Hitleresque ideas give some chilling insight into how the radical left thinks that our children should be treated. This also gives one an idea as to why – when faced with evidence to the contrary – the global warmists react violently when their dogma is questioned.
Rather than indulging her, the alleged journalists at the BBC should have interrogated her about her ulterior motives. Followed by a visit from MI-5.

It is astonishing that anyone old enough and educated enough to remember or know enough about the totalitarian regimes of the past 100 years could suggest this idea was either a good idea or even a practical one.

There is no or a tiny useful, human point for this. War criminals can nearly always be identified physically even years after. It is only many decades after, as with Nazi war criminals, when there is much difficulty with identification. Do you need microchipping just for this strange, unusual situation? No.
What can the non-combat situations be? It is rare that it is too hard to identify a criminal. And, to destroy human liberties just for this rare situation is ridiculous. Everyone is watched their movements passed certain sensors recorded for the sake of catching a few criminals. This woman has had her head far too engrossed in silly crime novels and T.V. programmes, which usually bear no reality to real life.
What she is saying is that everyone should forsake their liberties, the right not to have their movements and acts recorded and logged for the sake of some ridiculous circumstances. Unfortunately, the lady’s mind is geared to fictional types of situations. Ascertaining who committed a crime is nothing to do with finding them. The ascertation is the hard part and won’t be affected by microchipping. Identifying where the person is then is seldom a problem. But I believe nearly everyone would prefer that the very few criminals who do, can, slip away, than be part of a movement and act recording system just so those few can be found.
