In 2009 the Environmental News Service [ENS] carried an article on a report into the effect of global warming on snow and ice, presented by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (“Gore and Store” – now there’s a double-act with a catchy name).
The ENS wire service summarized the findings in an article entitled “Gore Reports Snow and Ice Across the World Vanishing Quickly“:
Snow cover is diminishing, and glaciers from the Himalayas to the Alps are melting rapidly, with the greatest reductions in the Andes and the Rockies, the report shows.
Foreign Minister Støre said, “We need an emergency plan for the crysosphere, with immediate measures to save as much of our ice and snow cover as possible.”
Save our Snow is the message from Gore and his pals. Hopefully, the last couple of winters will have calmed them down a little.
